Upper Cabinet Organization

So a while back I did a post on cabinet organization inspiration. My cabinets are far from perfect, but I have been able to get them to a point where I can always find what I need, and they look nice when you open them – that’s the goal of all organization, right?

So I’m going to go ahead and post some pictures of the updated kitchen and how I’m keeping my upper cabinets organized. I’m going to go ahead and apologize off the bat for bad lighting – there is a lot of soft natural light and soft LED light in the kitchen but that doesn’t equal good picture-taking light.

Below is a picture of what my kitchen looks like now:

It’s far from perfect, but it’s come a long way since last year when we started fixing it up…

I can barely remember it, but it used to look like this:

Quite an improvement I’d say! πŸ™‚

Below is a quick pic of where everything is at in the upper cabinets. I did it on the iPad so sorry about the handwritten words. πŸ˜‰

From the right side (the back end towards the door) to the left (towards the fridge), here are pictures of the insides of the cabinets!

Here is a close-up of how I am organizing my meds in a Sterelite container. (The coral wrapping paper is from Target!).

I also took a few shots with the cabinet doors open to help you get a feel for where everything is really at.

So by the sink and above the dishwasher I have all my dishes, and then in the next cabinet over there are more dishes (coffee cups/mugs) and spices/other cooking pantry items.

20140728-163711.jpg

And then above the microwave I am utilizing the small cabinet for medicine of the left, along with first aid, and then the big box on the right hand side is just all of my vitamins and Aloe Vera thrown in box covered in the same wrapping paper I used to decorate the medicine drawers.

20140728-163715.jpgPast that is the baking cabinet and the pasta cabinet to finish it off. So far I have really been liking this set-up! Things like pots/pans/canned goods/plastic baggies/etc are in cabinets below, and I have more cabinets past the fridge that are used for the real “pantry”, full of snacks and cereal.

So that’s my kitchen organization in a nutshell, along with an overall kitchen update! Woop woop! Also, we just did our first coat of primer in my garage! It looks awesome and thanks to everyone who came out to help us get it done!

More House Progress… Office Painted!

image

Doesn’t that color just brighten your day? πŸ™‚
My day is brighter just thinking of all the lovely things in my new house! You can see in the office picture above that we have paint on some walls and have lights and ceiling fans installed. We also have the master bedroom painted and I’m working on the other bedroom!
The bathroom just has Killz primer on it, but soon we will buy paint for it!

That was the master, office, and a sneak peak of the bedroom that belongs to Cheyenne (my best friend who is living with me until she gets deployed)! Grey walls and an orange ceiling!

In the meantime, Cheyenne and I have been working on cleaning the floors. There is both tile and wood floors that need cleaned at this point.

New House Update (and Picture Overload, of Course!)

So the renovation on the new house has been going pretty well! We were going to clean all the soot off, but later decided to just re-drywall and then clean what’s left. This means lots of fun trips to the building department!

At first the demo was just a lot of removing drywall. Now we are getting down to taking out insulation and old drywall screws… nice and tedious! You can tell how much fun it is! I can’t wait until it’s time to paint! I will probably pull a lot more weight on the project when we get to that point. This demo stuff isn’t my strong suit… We still have a long way to go to get there, but in about a month, painting is definitely where I want to be!
Here are some pics from the first few days!

Mariah's house cleaning up after the fire 035And last but not least, my lovely Grandma has started planting some flowers for me out front! I love her so much! I know the inside of the house is more important right now, but I just really want to work on landscaping right now!! Haha!

So there you have it – the latest updates on the house. Next steps will be getting the drywall up and cleaning, cleaning, cleaning! We will have to clean the floors, the fireplace, and more. Plus we get to rearrange closets and configure cabinets! How exciting! πŸ™‚ I can’t wait until we call this place home!

PS – I paid my last month of rent today! Wahoo! Now we just have to pay Richard’s last month and we are free! Freedom!!

New House

So it’s final! We are officially closing on April 16th! I am so excited for my new home and cannot wait to get down to fixing it up. I’m going to need a vaccum, some dry sponges, and TONS of help!
(Sorry about the little arrows on the sides of the pictures, they were from screenshots and I didn’t crop them out!)

It’s a one story home and trust me, it is much bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. We also got quite a bit of land, a pole barn, and a pool that we might decide to keep if it’s in good enough condition!

20130403-001848.jpg
This is the front room. I’ve been referring to it as the “living room”, although technically we have two living rooms. This one has a bay window which you can see a bit of on the very right side of the picture! And I LOVE bay windows! πŸ™‚

20130403-001853.jpg
This one is from the kitchen, where we believe the fire started.

20130403-001859.jpg
The other side of the kitchen… We will need a new ceiling for sure!

20130403-001905.jpg
This is the master bedroom. Just soot damage. Elbow grease followed by primer and paint will take care of it!

Hopefully we can get in there and get to work really soon! I’m so ready to get the soot removal and renovation part over and done with and to get on to fun stuff like picking out paint colors! πŸ˜‰
